"He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Boasting.
Boasting.

Boasting.

VERSE:

“Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” ROMANS 3:27-28

REFLECTION:

Paul’s centrifugal theme in the book of Romans rotated in the cross of Christ, God judges sin and at the same time shows His saving mercy. God designed the Gospel, His plan of salvation, His plan to actually save His chosen people, in such a way as to prelude human boasting and rooted us steadfastly for humility. Paul declares emphatically that no one will be justified by following the works of the law. He arrives at the good news: righteousness before God is available apart from the law through faith in Christ’s death for our sin on the cross. Paul does not say that boasting is “minimised” but that is totally excluded”. He does not mean that no one ever made a wrongful boast or couldn’t do that. He means, it seems clear, that all grounds for legitimacy making a boast our salvation are nonexistent. But we rather hardly feigned off our great joy and festive gratitude fellowshipping with our brothers and sisters praising and worshipping Our Creator for our salvation. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

OH Lord, hear your people that we should never be seen as boastful people. The world may revel in boasting and label it “self-confidence” and uphold it as a prime virtue. But we who are in Christ know that all boasting is illegitimate. What do we received it as a gift from Thee Oh Father, we cannot and should not boast but because we have consumed and overflowed by Thy grace and mercy of the our salvation. Lord Jesus Christ has and will be our way, the truth and the life.  Make us humble people,Oh Abba Father, we have been humbled also that our Saviour and High Priest, King of all kings has come down to earth not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Amen.
