‘We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.”
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
Reflection:
Preceding to the verse above Paul mentioned the treasure in the earthen vessel (4:7). Though clearly referencing to the gospel as our light from God not from men. I was too drawn onto very nature of how the molten clay came into a Jar. As earthly dwellers moulded into something useful by Our Creator/ Potter, likened into a jar. We’ve been tossed and twisted especially in this times, i.e. Pandemic, terrorisms, natural calamities and personal turmoil and sufferings. Relics of post disastrous event in my life but internally and spiritually has fortified my faith and trust into our Creator and clutching firmly into His Sovereign grace and providence. The 2nd book of Corinthians Paul highlighted the relationship between suffering and the power of the his apostolic life, ministry, and message. Paul’s opponents had questioned his motives and his personal courage. They argued that he had suffered too much to be a Spirit-filled apostle of the risen Christ. But Paul argues that his suffering is the means God uses to reveal his glory (1:3–4, 11, 20). If our faith is in Christ, we no longer live in bondage to sin, and in fear of the wrath of God. We are free! Instead of our own dirty garments, we live as if clothed in a robe of righteousness!
Prayer:
Lord, our Creator of heaven and earth. Out from the dust You have breathed through our nostrils. Thank you Oh Father that our old nature: sinful and deserving of Thy wrath has gone away through Thy only begotten Son, Lord Jesus Christ’s innocent blood that flows on that old rugged cross. Father, though we live in this beguiling and troubled world, You have manifested and magnified Thy grace and mercy. Abba Father, grant us wisdom that our fickle understanding of eternity illuminated with earnest anticipation of Jesus’ glorious coming, where there’s no more pain, suffering, tears, darkness, and wickedness. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
I like your song…it’s as if I’m facing Our Lord, himself. ..the solemnity US maling IT real.
